Who the hell gave her the power to speak worth over you?<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

My daughter’s words hit\u00a0my heart so heavily\u00a0they took my breath away.\u00a0 With tears in my eyes, I had to admit that it was me<\/em><\/strong>; I<\/em><\/strong> had given her that power.<\/p>\n

I don’t know when or how it happened, but I had given another person the authority to determine my worth.\u00a0 When I felt like she approved of what I was doing, I felt good and competent.\u00a0 When I felt like she disapproved, I felt flawed and worthless.\u00a0 Unfortunately, over time, I\u00a0began to feel ‘not enough’ whenever\u00a0I was with her, always remembering the times I had failed to measure up.\u00a0 I had only myself to blame; I had given that power, that authority to her.<\/p>\n

\u00a7 \u00a0\u00a7\u00a0 \u00a7<\/em><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

I think we do that more than we realize.\u00a0 Maybe it’s to\u00a0a job, family, education, wealth, busy-ness, beauty, friends, kids,\u00a0ministry, where we live, what we drive, the list goes on.\u00a0 We start out with good intentions, wanting to be liked and accepted, wanting to do and be good.\u00a0 But before we know it, we are slaves\u00a0to those\u00a0things or the opinions of\u00a0others.\u00a0 And we\u00a0we will never be enough.\u00a0 We could always do more, be more.\u00a0 It’s frustrating.\u00a0 It’s discouraging.\u00a0 It’s suffocating.<\/p>\n

I was suffocating.<\/em><\/p>\n

My daughter’s question\u00a0was the fresh breath that I needed.\u00a0\u00a0Hope was revived in my heart.\u00a0 Thoughts became clear in my head.\u00a0\u00a0 Things could be different.\u00a0 I could\u00a0be\u00a0free.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I would take\u00a0the power back.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So this is my reminder and I\u00a0pray it will be yours, as well.<\/p>\n

My worth, your worth,\u00a0comes\u00a0not from what\u00a0we do or don’t do, how\u00a0we look, or how smart\u00a0we are, but from\u00a0God.\u00a0 We are of such great worth and value to Him that He sent Jesus, His\u00a0profound love in human form, so that we could be united.\u00a0 He loves us unconditionally at all times, even when\u00a0we’re making a mess of things or not living up to expectations.\u00a0 There is nothing we could do to diminish His love for us.\u00a0 \u00a0We are\u00a0His children,\u00a0His beloved.\u00a0 He\u00a0rejoices over us with shouts of\u00a0joy.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Let those words sink deep into your heart.\u00a0\u00a0Read them again if you have to.<\/p>\n
